I love my Android! We should compare apps... haha. Since you are good at all things technology.. can you invent an App to make it a tv remote and also one to link to my credit card so that I can carry less stuff with me?
Not sure if the tv remote thing is feasible... But I know that cell phones in Japan can be used as credit cards. They are way ahead of the curve!

Keep on writing!

p.s. the things I cant live without = DroidLight (afraid of the dark); urbanspoon (I'm indecisive); news and weather widget (still trying to find a decent Google Reader app); what the doodle (occupies my time); advanced app killer (vzn kid told me to d/l it, better battery life); and why has no one been making a big deal about Skype app for Droid. It is great!!

Allison, great to hear from you. Thanks for visiting and commenting! I've noticed the same thing with the Droid, although I've yet to disconnect. Most of the time I wind up accidentally making the keypad open up, resulting in some interesting music for the person on the other end. Other than that I've also had some random glitches with the interface slowing down for no apparent reason. In any case, the issues seem to be outliers, and I'm fairly impressed and satisfied with the device now, especially after 2.1! Stop back again anytime.

I just bought the Droid as well and one major thing I had issues with at the beginning was hanging up the call in the middle of it. Apparently if you do not hold it "correctly" the sensor does not make the screen lock as it should. Very frustrating, but I bought a bluetooth headset to use with it and now that I am aware of the issue, I hold the phone "properly". I googled the issue and a lot of others experience this.

Barnaby! Thanks again for commenting! I'm so glad to hear someone say something good about Ubuntu's cloud model. I've been tempted to give it a try, but heard a lot of mixed reports. Either way, glad to have you as a reader, and hope to make it out to SF someday to visit.

I'm a big fan of the cloud myself.
* I use Google Docs. May not be as feature complete as OpenOffice, but portability is a feature, and it takes the prize. And it's 100x better than Sharepoint for sharing documents.
* I have all my code in git on repositoryhosting.com, so if my computer crashes it's still there. Accessible from everywhere.
* Cloud computing support is BUILT INTO Ubuntu. I spin off a private cloud to run a task by just clicking a button. (I assume Mac and Windows will copy that soon too) It's that ubiquitous
Etc.

There's downsides, like privacy concerns or data-loss when the provider goes out of business. But, let's face it we live in America where there is no such thing as privacy in the first place, and if the business goes belly-up then chances are they'll do something in their last days to let you recover you data. You can also do backups of your cloud files in a lot of instances, to mitigate that last problem.

I know Richard Stallman says cloud computing isn't good for your freedoms, but I do like the "freedom" the portability brings.

Right on. Yeah. I've heard it explained that the advancements of the Web are actually bringing us back to an older way of doing business. You operate your business on the Web in the same way that you would have operated a small store front business in a tiny town. You care about your customers. I've heard someone say it that we're seeing the rise of the "care economy."

And yes Louis, GO TO SCANDINAVIA! I have a ~10 page itinerary you can have haha. (Complete credit goes to my friend Devon, she's an amazing planner who will even schedule you sleeping blocks if you request it!)
